Starting external programs with startx ?

Default Starting external programs with startx ?


I want to tell acme to start every time I 'startx'

I tried to put a line in /etc/rc.d/rc.4 but it still isn't working
maybe in the wrong place?
or the wrong file ?

The totally wrong file.

If you're running 'startx' it isn't looking at anything in /etc/rc.d at
all.

Look at 'xinitrc' stuff, more importantly in your home directory. A
google should show you exactly what you need.

Edit the file .xinitrc in your home directory to start any
programs you want to run automagically when X starts. Copy
the file /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc to ~/.xinitrc and just
experiment with it.

But pgp looks at /etc/rc.d and it slows your system down. There is
no reasonable excuse for using pgp in this posting and you are
asked to show some consideration for other posters by refraining
from the use of pgp unless absolutely necessary.
