| Hi all. I recently upgraded an old compaq laptop from 7.1 to 9.1. I followed the instructions in README in pasture (plus a previous thread in this group) to downgrade xserver to 3.3.6 to deal with old cirrus video. Used the original XF86Config I was using with 7.1 No problems launching X (fluxbox), but I don't have EITHER the backspace key or the delete key working -- other keys seem fine. I have been reading post after post on google groups, and am getting a bit groggy, hoping for help. P.S. I read the instructions in /etc/X11/xinit and created the Xmodmap file (in just about every location I could think of ~/mydir /etc/ /etc/X11 /etc/X11/init and the system Xmodmap path my old X86FConfig file pointed to. (I'm presuming it's .Xmodmap but I've tried it with and without leading dot. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks. |

Try adding the following to ~/.xinitrc (or ~/.xsession): xmodmap <xmodmap-file> where '<xmodmap-file>' is the name and location of your modmap file, see man xmodmap > Any suggestions would be appreciated. > > thanks. Quoting like above would probably be considered a good quoting. Even though the original problem isn't quoted in the text that problem still shows in the subject. Even if the subject wouldn't tell about the problem most people have news readers which threads the news and can easily find your original post. regards Henrik -- The address in the header is only to prevent spam.
