Gnucash's dependencies are elephantine, but there is a website specifically for gnucash on Slackware, and it is very well done. I've built gnucash 1.8.8 using them and had no difficulty other than having to move the slib directory one level up from where the instructions said to put it (to /usr/share/guile, and not /usr/share/guile/1.6.) Another alternative is to use FreeBSD: Dial in to my ISP, cd to /usr/ports/finance/gnucash and type "make". Using this method I was able to do two things at once: build gnucash and sleep. Or, at least he did what is considered equivalent in this ng: he provided a Googlable pattern that was equiv to the "PROGNAME". This might not have been obvious to everyone, but then unobviousness to 'newbies' is an AOLS virtue, isn't it? Try it for yourself: http://www.google.com/search?q=%22in...s+libraries%22 |
