Default Swaret question.

Hi every1.
I want to know a few thing:

- (swaret --update) what does this command do? Does it realy update all
installed packages?

- What's the diference between "swaret --update" and "swaret --upgrade"?

- Do this options (--update & --upgrade) have the same meaning for slapt-get
command?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Nuno Paquete.

have you read the man pages for swaret? (if not installed on your system,
then available at <http://www.swaret.org/?menu=swaret8>) it's pretty clear
about the meaning of both switches.

as for slapt-get, i'm sure the man page or online documentation
<http://software.jaos.org/> will tell you what you need to know as well.

Hi Joost.
Yes, i've read the man pages:
"ACTIONS
--update Retrieve the latest List Files"
So, does it just list the updates available or update too.

Another thing, there's a diference between update and upgrade. I suppose
that upgrade is installing a new version and update is get the latest
patches. Am i wrong?

Thanks.

the way i understand the documentation, (i don't use swaret myself), swaret
keeps files with lists of available packages. the --update option updates
these. --upgrade installs new versions of the packages on your system.

Hi Les.
I use Swaret, Slapt-get and slackupdate.
You can find it in www.linuxpackages.net
It's a web site that all Slack users should visit. You probably already know
it.
What do you use?

Regards,
Nuno Paquete.
