Default Wireless+laptop

Hi!

I want to get myself a laptop that i can use to connect to my wireless
network. I want it to run slackware 9.1 and i just wonder if there are some
experience out there running slack on a laptop with a PCM/CIA nic.

Is it hard to get into a net which only allows certain MAC addresses access?

It's very easy. You may have to install linux-wlan-ng, though. Check
out <http://www.linux-wlan.com/linux-wlan/index.html>.

Really, for my PCMCIA card, *once* you download that software, it's a
breeze. It took me a little while to find out I needed that stuff,
though.

I use Slackware and my wireless cards work automatically. But your
question:

> Is it hard to get into a net which only allows certain MAC addresses access?

leads me to believe that you are trying to get into a network on which
you do not control the access. If that's the case, then you'll have
to get the person who does have control to add your MAC address. But
you don't have to do anything fancy on your end.
