| Hi, I am currently running VectorLinux 4.0 (a Slack9.0-derived distribution) on a now slowly-aging Thinkpad A22m. The 2.4.22 kernel works perfectly with everything (usb, pcmcia, apm, hibernation etc, *everything*) but after installing Dropline GNOME lately, I was thinking maybe 2.6.3 would be faster for this kind of an environment. I would like to ask for comments concerning the combination Slack 9.1 and 2.6.3 kernels on this laptop (or similar Thinkpads) since I am planning to perform a new, clean installation in a couple of weeks and I am worried that certain things might be non-functional (most notably hibernation), causing the lack of many hours of otherwise precious time ;-) Thanks, Isaak |
