| All of a sudden, after this upgrade, the characters in this font seem fixed pitch and there is a wide gap between characters. All other fonts are OK. http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13041 has more info. Recommend switching to another sans-type font for the time being. Just FYI |

I was not able to find the cause of the problem. None of the suggested fixes (e.g. fc-cache -vf) helped me. I was doomed to use H e l v e t i c a . . . The following corrected it for me: Dropped out of X and issued the following: cd /usr/X11/lib/fonts find . -name 'fonts.dir' -exec rm {} \; find . -name 'fonts.scale' -exec rm {} \; find . -name 'fonts.cache-1' -exec rm {} \; find . -type d -exec mkfontdir {} \; find . -type d -exec mkfontscale {} \; /usr/X11R6/bin/fc-cache |
