I was going to ask about the advanytages and disadvantages of STUX
vs. SLAX, but I see that when I go to http://gpstudio.com/stux/ and
click on "QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS", then "General", then "what are the
specific advantages of STUX Live-CD?", I see that you don't even
answer month-old questions on your own online forum. Compare this
with the forum at http://slax.linux-live.org/

We all know, of course, that good software can have a bad website
and that bad software can have a good website, so I will give STUX
a try.

Remember Doc Brown from the _Back to the Future_ movies? Do you
have an "impossible" engineering project that only someone like
Doc Brown can solve? My resume is at http://www.guymacon.com/

Ok, I don't reply to questions in forum because I hope that other users
will do that. My email address is available to contact me directly, the
forum is supposed to be for users only. I am going now to reply to that
question.
Briefly, STUX is an attempt to make a Live CD similar to Knoppix but
based on Slackware, non on Debian. SLAX is not. Following this idea,
Slax is a 185 MB uncompressed iso file, while Stux is a 650 MB
compressed (that means 1.7 GB of total data).
Slax is nice, but follows another idea of Live CD.

Ciao
Giacomo

It isn't working. Users askmquestions and months go by with no reply.
You might want to consider answering qeustions in your forum in order
to attract more users.

Thanks for the answer! I think that STUX is worth trying.

Well, perhaps I made an error on not responding personally to messages:
i will do that in the future.

Thank you for your suggestions: I have updated web site now following
your consideration (sections INFO AND CREDITS and QUESTION AND ANSWERS).

For those who may wish to try STUX ( http://gpstudio.com/stux ),
I would like to point out two things that may not be clear from
the conversation so far.

[1] It is based on Slackware linux 9.1

[2] It boots from a CD, so you can give it a spin without doing
an install which requires space on you hard drive.

You might also wish to look at SLAX ( http://slax.linux-live.org/ )
which is smaller (fits on a mini CD-R, but yu don't have as many
packages installed, so you favorite might be missing), and gives
you all the scripts you need to build your own version.

I plan on doing a detailed review of both after I have used them
for a while.
