Default resolved - X not reading .xinitrc

Hi,

I thought I'd post this in case anyone encounters this problem.

After upgrading xfree to the xfree86-4.4.0-i486-2 packages in -current,
I found that X would not read my .xinitrc. Instead X would run, but not
load a Window Manager, leaving just the default X cursor and grey-checks
screen. No error messages were printed.

If I removed ~/.xinitrc, X would run fluxbox, which is the Window
Manager it should run on this system when no ~/.xinitrc is found. (I.E
it's what's run from /etc/X11/xinitrc). If I ran xwmconfig, selected a
WM, (and therefore automagically creating a ~/.xinitrc), X would once
again not load a WM.

It turned out this problem could be fixed by deleting the ~/.Xauthority
file and deleting the user's files in /tmp. The .Xauthority file had
text that you usually expect to find when X is running, and I suspect
this was stopping X load a WM. (E.G
"hostname0MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1gobbledegook")

Any further information about this would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Right, I also stepped over this problem. I think it is a bug, so please send
a bug report to PV!
