Default Real Player 8 for Slackware 9.1

Is there a Realplayer version available for Slackware ?
After filling in the form on the Realplayer site :

http://forms.real.com/real/player/unix/unix.html

an RPM can be downloaded. Unfortunately this does not install on Slackware
9.1 , lots of failed dependencies, even with the --nodeps option.
Can anyone help ? thanks in advance.

Perhaps installing the dependancies would be a start ?

Or using rpm2tgz and installing that way ?

You have to search, but there is a realplayer version with a tar.gz
format, which can be installed in some directory
like /usr/local/RealPlayer8, then properly set up. There also is a
link to a version of RealPlayer9, which unfortunately often develops
codec installation problems for users.

The *bin* file installs ok on any version of slack. http://www.real.com/ and
click on "Linux / Unix Player" at the bottom of that page.

The file that you want to download is

rp8_linux20_libc6_i386_cs2.bin

make it executable and run it, that will install realplayer. I just
successfully did so on my slack9.1 box.

cheers

I don't think so, only "Windows Media Player" ones, unless you also
compile in support for all of the RealPlayer codecs (rp8 or rp9).
By default it only uses the Win-32 DLL's, which do not support RealAudio
cq Video.

But I didn't test it either, so I may be wrong.
