| Hi...I am running Slack9 and before 7.1. Prior to changing to an ethernet cable internet connection and using a dial up connection I had no problems with my HPdeskjet 712C working. After finally getting my ethernet internet connection running I am unable to use my printer. I have a RealTek 8139too module supporting a Belkin rented modem. Attempting a simple .txt file print job I see the following error: sending job ajax@cablesrus.com509 to txt@localhost connecting to localhost, attempt 1 connected to localhost requesting printer txt@localhost sending control file dfA509cablesrus@cablesrus.com to txt@localhost job ajax@cablesrus+509 transfer to txt@localhost failed ERROR TRANSFERRING DATA sending control file cfA509cablesrus.cablesrus.com to txt@localhost. When I did the network setup I used the username of "ajax" and named my host domain "cablesrus.com" with my internet cable provider being cablesrus.com. I have a standalone machine and am not part of a private network with the only purpose of my ethernet card to connect to the internet. I rarely use my printer and am more apt to run a copy every week to just keep the cartridges from drying clogged. There is an endless amount of web pages dealing with LAN and shared printers and files but I've come up empty for my particular case. Rather than airing my guesses as to what that error message says I will ask anyone if they can suggest a source to read on-line that will point me in the right direction or suggest a solution. Regards, Nick |
