| Hi! I have read about some ppl using the 2.6 kerne,k with some kind of slackware-current, but not found anything similar to that out there. Is any (test, prerelease etc.) slack version aout there existant that uses 2.6 by default? THanks guys - I just haven't found it on the web and can't wait to try it... All the best - slack's the best! -- Michael r-znvy: zvpunry.wryqra jro.qr (chg gur "@" jurer vg svgf...) ab fcnz cyrnfr |

Slackware -current is Slackware's development tree. It has a 2.6 kernel package but it's not the default, so you'll have to install with the 2.4 kernel and use upgradepkg to install the 2.6 kernel. (That should be fairly straightforward.) Here's the Changlog for -current: <http://www.slackware.com/changelog/current.php?cpu=i386> You can get -current from a mirror: <http://www.slackware.com/getslack/> <http://www.abnormalpenguin.com/slackware-mirrors.php> -- Mark Hill <usenet@mark.ukfsn.org> GPG KeyID: 4A3B58AC |

The slackware-current directory tree can be found on most Slackware FTP mirror sites. Where did you look? Try Mark's link to the "abnormalpenguin" site. > Is any (test, prerelease etc.) slack version aout there existant that > uses 2.6 by default? 9.1 was the last release. There are no prereleases other than -current, which is a work in progress. You can download -current and use the NFS or premounted directory install options, or, if you think you must have a CD, follow the isolinux/README.TXT instructions to make one. -- /dev/rob0 - preferred_email=i$((28*28+28))@softhome.net or put "not-spam" or "/dev/rob0" in Subject header to reply |

Is distro.ibiblio.org:/usr/local/pub/Linux/distributions/slackware/slackware-current/ /mnt/slackware-current/ nfs rsize=8192,wsize=8192 a correct line on fstab to mount that directory? Can I install from there? Thanks! -- Michael r-znvy: zvpunry.wryqra jro.qr (chg gur "@" jurer vg svgf...) ab fcnz cyrnfr |
