| You both seem to have the mistaken idea that this newsgroup can affect the outcome of your campaign to have "Swaret" included as an 'official' component of Slackware. This is a mistaken idea as, as far as I am aware, very, very few of those subscribing to this newsgroup have any influence with the distributions owner. However if you wish to influence the proprietor than perhaps you should both email your case for inclusion of "Swaret" to him at: Patrick Volkerding <volkerdi@slackware.com> The only result your arguments seem to have had, so far, is to reinforce everybody's prejudices on both sides of the argument, in which you both seem to be in a minority, not necessarily a small minority , but a minority never the less. -- Two Ravens "...hit the squirrel..." |

You shouldn't post Patrick's email address here as I'm sure he gets enough SPAM without any help from you. -- Confucius: He who play in root, eventually kill tree. This has been an interesting dialectic. I've learned about the issues of package management and how they relate to other distros as well as Slack. And I've learned how important this issue is to a lot of people. And I've found it intereting to see how on even the most mundane of topics (like PMs) some of the folks here have the need to get personal, insulting, vulger, and even intimidating. I think this thread has shown the best and worst of the Slack "community" and I think it shows a user-base that is far from united on this issue (or any other issues for that matter.) I often believe that the only thing that two Slack users can agree on is the spelling of the product's name! ANC |

Yet, you would have us believe your 7 paragraphs of pompous braggadocio, obviously a vulgar attempt at personal intimidation, should be perceived as something other than insulting. Amazing! nb -- Be considerate of others and trim your posts. Thank you. |

Its on the Slackware site, although you could easily argue that some of those posting here are unlikely to have read it. As far as I know email addresses posted on web sites are meant to be read. Do you really think he has posted his address with the intention than no one should be able to see it, or that it is his private email address? -- Two Ravens "...hit the squirrel..." |

And they say [diety of your choice] does not answer prayers! :-) One last point about my answer to Mr. Hicks. As Yogi once said, "It ain't braggin' if you can do it." ANC |

I think the idea is to reduce the number of spambots that come across his email address. I'm not sure if it would make much of a difference, but it is still probably a good idea to mangle it to some extent. - Kurt |

I do see one drawbacks to my giving it to ABC an GP, on the one hand it could cause annoyance and alienation with the one, and an increase in annoyance and alienation with the other. -- Two Ravens "...hit the squirrel..." |

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised o Pat implimented a special rule on his spam killer to send all e-mail from GP to /dev/null. - -- It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, Than for a man to hear the song of fools.
