Why?

You think we have time for something besides this NG? Get lost.

How do you know this, and in what way can the site be good for
Slackware? IOW, why should we give a damn? If you can't answer,
why should we bother to read another forum? (Especially a web-
based one. Yuck!)

A guy goes to the trouble of setting up a web site for people to help each
other with regards to Slackware and all he gets is negative criticism. I
for one say 'good luck' to this well-intentioned enthusiast.

Seconded. My only criticism (and this is general, not of this specific
site) is that you need to register to post anything, and I generally
forget passwords/leave them on another machine/lose the bit of paper I
wrote it on. If you are a member of a number of sites, it becomes a real
hassle to keep track of them all.

I appreciate that it may cut down the amount of annoying messages, but
that's not a problem until a site is very popular anyway.

not if you use the same username/password for all of them. which is what i
do. (well, only for not-critical things, of course.)

Use a password that you can derive in some way from the name of the
site. It's not as if this is a particularly sensitive password so it
doesn't have to be very secure. I use the combination of a foreign
word and some letters from the site's name.

This is a nice idea however Slackware already has a couple of community
driven support sites in the form of userlocal.com and slackfiles.net.

Do we really need another one?

What I believe needs to happen if the organisers of these sites to get
together and combine their efforts, maybe one can be used more for
newbies/marketing and the other users for more sysadmin/developer type
stuff.

Regards

Lee
