Default Looking for a good file shareing program

I just wan't to start by saying that I removed my slow mandrake 9.2
system and replaced it with slackware 10 and I am verry impressed, I
mean verrrrrrrry impressed. Got X running in minutes using XFCE. It
picked up on my network cards right away, a little problem with my adsl
got that fixed. Compiled licq fast and easily. This is way better than
mandrake. anyhow I was wonder what a good file shareing program was. I
use GTK=Gnutella which is ok but I find it don't wan't wan't to download
all files, I tried limewire, its slow and i Find it disconnects me from
the internet. I was wondering if anyone else has had good luck with
anything... also I was wondering how to change the permissions to
/home/brian/Music and all the files inside to become brian's they belong
to root at this time
Thanks

try giFT - its opennap napster and a few others
http://gift.sourceforge.net/
you need giFTd and a gui- giFTcurs is what i use but there are many
others- just make sure you run the configure script

I also use bittorrent- i use a program called azureus its a bittorrent
java app runs good- go to www.suprnova.org to see all the stuff you can
download

I keep going back to mutella. It's a console prog, but it never lets me
down. Makes use of the gnutella network.

Mldonkey works great here. It also connects to most filesharing networks,
which is a big plus.

I agree. It just does things right. It's a little klunky until you get
used to it then it's as good as any of them IMO.

You can get gtk-gnutella from linuxpackages.net
(http://www.linuxpackages.net/search_...utella&ver=9.1)
and you won't have to worry about any files.

I just tried Mutella last night and this afternoon. It's very cool. Very easy
to use if you are comfortable with CLI progs. I'd say it's easier to use than
something like GNU screen or elm or vim. I'm downloading various songs to my
server and then transferring some stuff to my home machine. (I don't advocate
piracy, I'm using the songs as a test.)

Mutella does seem to crash some though. I'm still trying to uncover the reason
for the hangs.

I hunted for SuSE and Slack 10 isos but had little luck so far. Maybe some
isos are out there somewhere.

The Mutella docs suggest using Screen and that's exactly what I'm doing. I
just detach and reattach and leave it in the background.

Is Limewire really that slow compared to other filesharers? It seems to
run fine on my machines and it is very flexible in its use.
