I'm still running Slackware 9.1 but if 10 hasn't changed at this point
its not because X is automagically configured.

If you don't setup X in any way X is using /etc/X11/XF86Config-vesa
instead of /etc/X11/XF86Config. XF86Config-vesa is a very generic setup
and uses the generic vesa driver. It usually works but you probably
doesn't get the full potential of your hardware.
