bloody hell, played around with the settings :-)
I wrote the following text:
Hi

Each time I start Gnome(could be that this is in the console to, but
I've never checked that) the volume of the pcm volume is muted. So that
I have to unmute... is there a command to store the setting of the oss
sound system? Like alsactrl.....

Thanks a lot

Do a Google search for umix; this package does what you want.

The Problem remains. My PCM is set back each time i start up my
computer... I use OSS Sound System.
I saved my settings with umix as root...

If I set in Gstreamer-config from OSS to Alsa, does gnome use Alsa from
that time on? This might make a difference..

You should be able to reload those settings automatically every time you
reboot your system; check out the -l option for umix.

I see, it's a bit diffrent from the alsactrl :-)
Added /usr/local/bin/umix -l to my rc.local... will have look at it by
my next boot..

Thank you a lot.

Boy, when Marge first told me she was going to the Police Academy, I
thought it's be fun and exciting, like the movie `Spaceballs.' But
instead, it's been painful and disturbing, like the movie `Police
Academy.'
