| Well, I've perused a bunch of sound related messages and am still confused as to what I ought to do to get my sound working. I've rebuilt my kernel several times with a bazillion sound-related items enabled (nearly all of them at this point) but still no sound... my mobo should have this... "built in VT82C686A Direct Sound AC97 via VT1611A codec, hardware SoundBlaster" but lsmod gives... Module Size Used by Not tainted soundcore 3588 0 (autoclean) amd7xx_tco 3360 0 (unused) hw_random 2812 0 (unused) usb-ohci 19656 0 (unused) ehci-hcd 18028 0 (unused) usbcore 61804 1 [usb-ohci ehci-hcd] eepro100 19764 1 mii 2272 0 [eepro100] pcmcia_core 43364 0 ide-scsi 9456 0 agpgart 44708 0 (unused) and I really don't know what to try or do next. Any help would be appreciated. (I know the sound works, at least it did when I had Redhat installed). :/ Thanks in advance. Mike |

But still no sound. alsaconf gives me zip. alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device (:| Mike |
