It's not really a big deal, as I know how to make it work, but I can understand why a newbie wouldn't like this. |

Actually I don't think he meant he finds it irritating that you have to configure X. I think he finds it annoying that the guy pesters us with a question that has been asked time and time and time again and has a section devoted to it in the FAQ for this newsgroup and for X itself. RTFM and STFW already. Sheesh! > It's not really a big deal, as I know how to make it work, but I can > understand why a newbie wouldn't like this. Wouldn't like it doesn't matter. If he's worth a damn he can quickly and easily find the answer to that question. If he doesn't want to make the effort to learn the basics then he is better off sticking to windows. There's a significant difference there, you know! He wasn't annoyed because somebody didn't RTFM, he's annoyed because anybody's using Linux. And anyway, what are we doing feeding the troll? Other than to reiterate RTFM. Heck, RTFNG, fer Crissakes! That same question has been asked at least a half-dozen times in the past week and answered about a hundred! http://groups.google.com/groups?q=%2...-8&sa=N&tab=wg Cheers! Rich |

X configuration is a big ? for some but patience is better than assuming that because a topic has been on the site many times then everyony has read it. Enjoy Slack and avoid eliteism. |

That's why newbie distributions will do it for you. Slackware is made for people who configure things themselves. |

True, but that does not excuse them for not looking for answers on their own. If that question has been asked and archived in this very place over and over again one should first look for the answer in those archives, and then ask if they don't completely understand. - -- It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, Than for a man to hear the song of fools.
