| KDM comes up just fine. But when I select a user, I'm not able to make any entry in the password field. This was working fine when I compiled KDE 3,3 beta 2 from source. So, I'm assuming it's an issue with the package. Anybody else seeing this? By the way, I'm using the packages I got from the contrib directory at the KDE ftp site. |

KDM Current defaults to "invisible output". Perhaps that's the new default behaviour from now on... Try to enter your pass without seeing the asterixes and enter, what happens then? I also noticed a strange thing when I installed Slack 10 at work. There is no shell for a normal user using kdm login. You need to add to /etc/shells /bin/sh I dunno if this helps, or solves the problem, but just an observation. Nick |

Seems dumb to me, but I'll be quick to change it. > > Try to enter your pass without seeing the asterixes and enter, what happens > then? Works. Thank You! |

The option for 'asterisked' passwords can be found in: /opt/kde/share/config/kdm/kdmrc Look for: # The password input fields cloak the typed in text. Specify, how to do it: # "NoEcho" - nothing is shown at all, the cursor doesn't move # "OneStar" - "*" is shown for every typed letter (Default) # "ThreeStars" - "***" is shown for every typed letter EchoMode=NoEcho As you can see, default is none (no echo). Just change that to 'OneStar' to get it back. Nick |
