Default strange sound problem ...

hello,

i could have sworn the sound worked earlier in slack 10rc1 (with 2.6) and
slack 10 (with 2.4). everything looks like it's working, cds, mp3s load in
xmms, cdplayer, madplay but there is no output.

same thing happened in fedora rc2

still works in mandrake 10 and winxp.

i haven't made any changes in the bios. using an audigy with msi ms-6702 and
athlon62 3400+.

?

thanks

First question in a case like this, is did you adjust your mixer volume
settings?

This is somewhat off topic, but...

We really need meters on these mixers. I'd bet that anyone who can handle
operating the 12 in/12 out sblive mixer with no visual feedback at all
would find using a real mixing desk surprisingly easy.

If there were meters on the mixer i/o it would be sooo much easier to see
where your audio is going, and if it's there at all.

i checked all the obvious stuff, mixer volumes on/unmuted, modules all
loaded, couldn't find anything obvious in /proc.
