| Has anyone setup Slackware 10 with dual monitor support? I was having one heck of a time getting it to work. I went to the X.org website and see "Xinerama" is an Ongoing Project. Does that mean dual monitor support is on hold for now? Or is it possible, just not with an out-of-the-box Slackware install? Thanks, Scott Moseman |

I'm using it right now, as a matter of fact, with the nvidia-61..something.. drivers and slackware-somewhere-between-9.1-and-10.0 (ie: some parts upgraded, some parts not) If you'd like help, post the sort of errors, the hardware you have, maybe your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file (with comments removed, please), and any other information you think might be useful/related to solving this (such as what you've already tried). |

You'll need to edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file to get things the way you want, adding 'option "Xinerama" "yes"' for example, but it isn't too hard. The details however may depends on the graphics cards you use. I've setup a three-headed workstation with two Nvidia cards (using the "nv" driver) and an ATI card. You can mix and match almost any combination of cards succesfully with a properly constructed xorg.conf file. The best source for how to do this is reading the file /usr/doc/Linux-HOWTOs/Xinerama-HOWTO on your hard drive (assuming you installed the linux-howtos package). Searching on google will turn up some examples of XF86Config files (xorg.conf) configured for Xinerama. -- Mark echo znex@ghpxre.arg |rot13 |

| Ok, thanks for the info. I am currently running SuSE 9.1, since I was really wanting my dual-head setup going. I did not want to load Slack up again without knowing if it was even possible, so with that, I might plan to give it a whirl again in the near future. If you're running it the way you want on any linux just copy the XF86Config or xorg.conf file from that system. At the very least it should point you in the right direction for setting up X on slack, though chances are it'll run without editing. Did you have these troubles? Also, i would really appreciate seeing your xorg.conf especially if youve had any success in using the dual setup without xinerama where only the mouse travels between displays?? I had no success with this and would like to see how its done Thanks in advance zinc |

I have an nvidia and a matrox, but it's fairly well-defined what section is which. This got made by something like Xorg -configure. It's all in the docs.
