I tried : root@gordon:/etc/rc.d# lpr file_to_print Status Information, attempt 1 of 3: sending job 'root@gordon+926' to lp@localhost connecting to 'localhost', attempt 1 cannot open connection to localhost - Connexion refusée Make sure the remote host supports the LPD protocol Waiting 10 seconds before retry Status Information, attempt 2 of 3: sending job 'root@gordon+926' to lp@localhost connecting to 'localhost', attempt 1 cannot open connection to localhost - Connexion refusée Make sure the remote host supports the LPD protocol Waiting 10 seconds before retry It works fine under X whith gimp-print driver. | Looks like you have both cups and lp installed (and lp was the latter of the two to be installed). Either (1) reinstall cups (and uninstall lp) or (2) make symlinks for all the lp commands (lp, lpr, lpstat, lpq, lprm) to their cups conterparts (under /usr/bin). whichever package gets installed last gets is symlinks set in that directory for it's print utilities.
