Default slack 9.1 gnome 2.4

upgraded to gnome 2.4 from 2.0, using swaret, all packages and
dependencies appeared to be found and installed.

now, as user or root, startx, and gnome crashes, only thing visible is a
window that says "session manager cannot start" (I beleive)....

following in .xsession-errors:

SESSION_MANAGER=local/mainline:/tmp/.ICE-unix/816
Gnome-Message: gnome_execute_async_with_env_fds: returning -1
Option given which is no longer supported in this version of
gnome-terminal; you might want to create a profile with the desired
setting, and use the new --window-with-profile option

can someone tell me what other logs I should be examining, and perhaps a
Man or How-To for troubleshooting this????

TIA,

tk.

Had a similar problem bakc when I did this. Even though this causes some
clutter by installing stuff you don't need, I had to run Swaret with the
--installnew (haven't done this in a while so please verify) option. I
also had to do this on the the l/ directory as you need new versions of
gtk, etc. Perhaps you want to download this directory from somewhere and
update it using upgradepkg.

Had a similar problem back when I did this. Even though this causes some
clutter by installing stuff you don't need, I had to run Swaret with the
--installnew option (haven't done this in a while so please verify what
the option actually is). I also had to do this on the the l/ directory
as you need new versions of gtk, etc. Perhaps you want to download this
directory from somewhere and update it using upgradepkg.
