| Hi Are there any slack packages for amanda ? I looked for it on www.linuxpackages.net but could not find any. Second question : I have a USB hard disk that I intend to use as a backup solution. How do I trick amanda into storing its backup on that disk keeping tab on different generations of backup just as if it were writing to a tape drive ? And if someone has this working, are there any pitfalls to such emulation ? Thanks. |

No. Get the sources and compile it. > I have a USB hard disk that I intend to use as a backup solution. That's not a backup, that's a COPY. There was a very long thread about backup solutions on alt.comp.os.hardware, I suggest you go and read it. The might google dugests that it may have been a typo, the group is probably comp.os. linux.hardware And the thread is probably "Need backup hardware suggestions" Tim |

You're saying that creating a backup and storing it on a usb harddisk isn't creating a backup, it's creating a copy? Can you get any nitpickier than that? |
