| I'm not sure if this is a slack issue or not (hence the ?), but I've recently started having strange issues burning large dvd files..... I do quite a bit of video work, and regularly end up with 3 or 4 GB files that I have to burn to DVD. Recently I've started getting peculiar problems when burning large files using k3b. The process appears to proceed correctly and exit at the end (takes about the right amount of time), but when I mount the resulting dvd under Linux, I can only see a very small file - typically 1 or 2 MB (about 5 or 10 secs worth of video!). The file looks like this on both my machines. However, if I look at the dvd under windoze, the whole file is present and correct! Only linux appears unable to see it! DVDs burned under windoze are recognized fine under Linux! I'm running Slackware-10 (current), K3B-0.11.17, dvd+rw-tools-5.21.4.10.8 and kernel 2.6.7. It occurs identically on two machines (AMD Athlon 2600 xp with an LG-4040 dvd re-writer and an amd64 laptop with a Matshita dvd rewriter). This indicates that its not a hardware issue. Its only recently I've become aware of the problem, so I suspect one of the updates is broken, but which? Any ideas, anyone? I was hoping someone else had run into this problem so that I could compare notes. At the moment, I can't determine if its a read issue or a write issue.....! One other clue - If I write a pre-prepared .iso file, everything is recognised fine in whatever operating system, however big the file! I'm beginning to look suspiciously at growisofs...... Looks like I'm going to have to do more digging! I can see a long week-end coming up....! -- Pete christy@NOattglobalSPAM.net (make the obvious amendments to reply!) |
