I got the pre-selection of availiable files by entering the service-tag,my
machine is listed in the systems list and the update-routine does a check
on the hardware. And, best of all, i got no new errors after updating but a
working cd-boot :-)

Can we see a "lilo -v 2" run with /dev/hda as the target, then?

Failing to get anything helpful from that, I think I'm going to have to
defer to those who have recomended you check BIOS settings and the
bootable flag on that disk ...

Well, it seems as Big Bad Bob was on the right track.

*Standard "it wasn't my fault* lame excuses* :-)
The IDE cable _was_ _not_ marked as "Cable Select" or something like "HD1" &
"HD2" on the connectors, so i assumed that i could follow my usuall routine
and jumper that stuff as Master/Standalone as always. Since it got
recognized correctly by the bios as first drive on first port i tought it
would be o.k. and didn't look any more.
- -Wrong-

Jumpered as "Cable Select", and after the 325th reinstall of lilo i got a
running system now that boots from HD.

So, to feed something into Google in case someone runs into the same prob
then me:

"If a Hd jumpered as Master is plugged wrongly onto a ide-cable suitable for
cable-select it might still be recognized by the bios as first drive on the
aprobiate ide-port, you can access it like as if there were no problem, but
you can't boot from it. Lilo might give a error like "Li 99 99 99 99l""

Thanks to all that answered me!
