Another open might be to enable ISA_CONFIG in the kernel config and try that. This is just a guess fromlooking at this, someone may have a better idea. mAineAc |

| Nothing in the BIOS looked promising. There were some mode change options for PCI/ISA but nothing that looked like card type or had any of the terminology you used. What is "enable ISA_CONFIG in the kernel config"? This is new to me. Regards, David P. It is not direct answer to your specific question, I just thought that you might be interested: there is mailing list ``linux-pcmcia'' http://lists.infradead.org/mailman/l...o/linux-pcmcia The people from this list are both knowledgeable and friendly, they have the list archive too. Definetly check your BIOS settings. If you have an old copy of Windows 95 or 98 about, so you can have that probe hardware? Also, check hp.com, see if you can get the specs from their support DB. HP bought Compaq, and supports their products. - -- eval join"",map{chomp;s/^.+>\s*//;$_}grep{/>/}<DATA>; __DATA__ .' .' It's been a while since I did the Slackware install, but I can do it again easily enough if you have any recommendations for it. > Definetly check your BIOS settings. If you have an old copy of Windows 95 or > 98 about, so you can have that probe hardware? I still have the Compaq Restore CD with the factory install of Win95. This was on the machine when I got it and there were no problems with the PCMCIA controller or the network card in it. > Also, check hp.com, see if you can get the specs from their support DB. > HP bought Compaq, and supports their products. Unfortunately, all I found on the website was: Two (2) Type II PCMCIA or One (1) Type III I'll email their support staff to ask for more detailed specifications the next time I happen by the laptop and can write down the SN. Do you have any suggestions as to what I can specifically ask them, other than "tell me everything you know about the PCMCIA hardware in this machine"? Regards, David P. Donahue ddonahue@ccs.neu.edu |
