Well, if i understand your setup, that would be as soon as your CMOS
battery runs out of power ... Hence i'd switch to the Grub bootloader:
ftp://ftp.slackware.at/slackware-current/extra/grub/

Yep, there are. Most are used (in my experience) in those complete-sold PC's
as in "Dell".
Usually there _should_ be a marking on the cable. Mine had none.

Certainly worth a try. Though, now that the machine is in a general
state of "working" I think I'll see what else Lilo has to offer before
abandoning it. If for no other reason than to use the same boot
loader as all my other machines. The `-g` flag or `geometric` option
in Lilo seems like it may be of use here, but I won't be able to test
it until I get home tonight.
