| I'm using the stock 2.6.7 kernel from Slackware.com which I installed against Slackware 10 with Dropline Gnome to get Gnome 2.8. Its a very easy install (no need to compile a kernel) and works well, I've had no major problems so far. DVD Burning works fine, no problems with PCI Soundblaster, NVIDIA graphics card, USB mouse and keyboard. |

But it worked fine with 2.6.8.1 and is working great with 2.6.10-rc3. This caused less (and thus man pages) to fail. The problem was traced to a faulty udev rule. After I upgraded to the udev which was then in slackware-current (udev-035), I had no more problems. | -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 In alt.os.linux.slackware, BoOtStrap dared to utter, > Where can I find some bug patches for the kernel You're best bet is the linux kernel mailing list. Barring that, some distributions may have backported bug fixes to 2.6.7 so a search of their public ftp and cvs servers might be beneficial. Back-porting fixes to the kernel in the 2.6 branch currently looks to me like a huge headache. The 2.6 kernel doesn't have a stable development path and large amounts of code are likely to change at any given time, so an issue fixed in 2.6.10rc2 may not easily backport to 2.6.7. - -- It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, Than for a man to hear the song of fools.
