Default cdrecord

Why does cdrecord take all the processing power from the computer,
especially during fixating a CD? The system just stops.
I am using SL9.1 and an AMD2500 Athlon.
Thanks / JB

let me guess, your system just slows to a crawl eh? X windows gets choppy,
CLI takes forever to respond?? make sure you have the support for your
mobo's chipset compiled in which should help with the disk i/o which
you can check with hdparm(8).

No problem with motherboard details in kernel or with hdparm anywhere
except with cdrecord, mainly during fixation. I don't think this is the
problem.
Thanks anyway, JB

I've found this problem with newer cdrecord, downgrading to 2.00.3 fixes it.

Thanks, that makes sense. I am using cdrecord 1.10, glad that the problem
is not endemic.
