| Hello from the Eighth Doctor Earlier today, I checked the group to see if anyone had responded to a posting that I made regarding video capture cards, and Slackware. The only one there was the response that I had read last night. A favorable one in fact. However when I checked to see if anything else had arrived about an hour and a half ago, US ET, it was gone. Also everything that was posted during the 14 days surrounding Christmas and New Years. Also a large amount of garbage that was present on the list, that was there, when I checked the list in the morning, was deleted. And here's a giggle, Google Groups, can't find my original posting, and the replies. That's right replies. There should be two to that original posting. The reply from a user who knew my card, and my reply to his, stating that I'd try the instructions from the company, who had based them on customers' notes. So since this group isn't moderated, something else went wrong. Anyone care to offer a suggestion? ---- Gregg C Levine drwho8 atsign att dot net |

Not a suggestion, but since I run my own newsserver, a Message-ID: MB3Bd.1194708$Gx4.1009857@bgtnsc04-news.ops.worldnet.att.net I couldn't find this on google groups, either, so clearly something funny is going on. --keith -- kkeller-usenet@wombat.san-francisco.ca.us (try just my userid to email me) AOLSFAQ=http://wombat.san-francisco.ca.us/cgi-bin/fom |

Hello from the Eighth Doctor And who do you mean? Unfortunately the moral degeneracy of this grouping has provided for a lot of them. I can think of two, but no names. So I can't say if they were the usual troll posts or they were a wave of those "let's bother one of the email abuse newsgroups" cleverly disguised as the usual troll posts. When the messages disappeared here, I assumed someone had cleared out the junk posts, though I can't recall it happening here before. The fact that it's not local doesn't change that, though it's odd that they sent out rogue cancel messages on every post rather than just the junk posts. Micahel |

This means I'm not crazy, and my ISP isn't seriously **** upped in the head as I originally thought. However Alan thanks for the offer, but I found the relevant posts stored in the LinuxPackages forum. I have since posted my reply to them below this message thread. --- Gregg C Levine drwho8 atsign att dot net "This signature says, "Sometimes the Dragon gets the Knight, and sometimes the Knight gets the Dragon.".". |
