Default Where is my mic?

My sound works fine for all my apps, when I speak into my mic I can hear my
voice. However when I use an app that uses the mic, the app doesn't pick
up my voice. Almost like it's not using the right device. I use a
soundblaster live sound card and the mic works with other linux distro's
just not Slackware.

Have you set the mixer to take the Mic as the recording input?

Yes I have. I used kmix to do it.

Test this :
# amixer |grep control

nd find the lines about your Mic, like :
....
Simple mixer control 'Mic',0
Simple mixer control 'Mic Boost (+20dB)',0
Simple mixer control 'Mic Select',0

There you see my Mic is disabled, so is probably yours :-)

Then, adjust it whith `alsamixer' or `amixer'

I have a SBLive24Bit and has not ever been able to get the "Mic" to
work, does not even show up. I have the alsa drivers 1.0.9rc2 and it
still will not let the mic work. The mic is a 80.00 Sony stereo Mic I
have had for years, and it worked up till I installed Slackware. Any
ansewers?

It'd have been quite a good move to try and list the said test :-)
# amixer |grep control

Then, maybe provide some more information, whatever you may have
found while searching ?

Also, as you seem to follow the source path, you can try the 1.0.9-rc3
released on last Monday, though I doubt there's anything related to your
card (I didn(t check that) you may find some interesting warning or other
message while configuring and building all over again ?
