"Just when I thought that I was out they pull me back in." - Michael Corleone I thought this thread was over. I guess not. Well, you know the drill by now. If you want to continue to #$%^ with me, I'm going to continue to #$%^ with you. It's the only thing terrorists understand. What nerve some of you guys think you have. You put on a ski mask, grab an automatic rifle, and you think you can run the world... or at last a.o.l.s. Well, it's not happen'. Not here. Not now. Not ever. I don't remember where it is written that Faux_Pseudo dictates what one should or should not reply to in any posting. Nor do I remember anything in the Usenet "charter" saying that I have to do whatever leader-dog Faux says. Guys like Faux and Hicks and our resident cowards behind masks have this mistaken notion that they OWN this group and that they have some kind of divine right to dictate how others must comport themselves, but the rules of 'polite society" don't apply to them. I wasn't rude in my reply or lack of one. If Faux thinks I was that's his problem, but it does not make it so... because believe it or not no one here really cares what a guy who hides in the shadows and who obfuscates his identity thinks. And if not 'nobody' it holds for a few of us on this group who are honest, have integrity.... and who won't be subjugated by a bunch of guys who think they own this group. You see the pictures of the guys who carry an automatic weapon wearing a ski mask... the pictures we see each night on TV? You wonder about the personality types of terrorists? Don't. You can see it right here on this newsgroup... where character assassins like notbob, 'ken', Dan. C. and sometimes Faux reign supreme... whom no one dares challange. No one has to promise to keep their "From" header or their sig the same forever-and-a-day, no matter how much 'authority' the a.o.l.s terrorists think they have. Those of you who want to be bullied by these thugs... well, that's your business. I won't be. I'm not leaving. I'm here. I've been here for two years. I'm staying here, and if the a.o.l.s terrorists don't like it, that's just fine with me. It's your choice, but I suggest you 'give it up', put me in your kill file and get on with your life. But hey. If you want to take a shot, I'm right here in the open... unlike some of the little cowards on this group. Al C. |

You're always drawing lines in the sand, your east coast west coast tough, Marine Corp tough. In you own eye you're a renaissance man in the era of instant communications. You cannot help but regale people with you expertise, over and over and over again, the endless drone is torture in itself. But I realized who who are. So I raise my glass in a toast to you Walter Mitty. Here's to you Walter, ka-pocketa, ka-pocketa, ka-pocketa. ken |

It's the only thing terrorists understand. Fortunately you nor anyone else can dictate when a discussion is over. However, the tone you set is indicative of a thread that once again runs out of control (and no I'm not refraining myself from putting more coal into the fire). > What nerve some of you guys think you have. You put on a ski mask, grab an > automatic rifle, and you think you can run the world... or at last a.o.l.s. > Well, it's not happen'. Not here. Not now. Not ever. Aha... the terrorist argument surfaces yet again. Think man... you're the self-proclaimed grown-up here, aren't you. Yet you're the one waving the guns and talking the talk that starts the real wars out there. > Guys like Faux and Hicks and our resident cowards behind masks have this > mistaken notion that they OWN this group and that they have some kind of > divine right to dictate how others must comport themselves, but the rules > of 'polite society" don't apply to them. Re-read what you said there... without the raised alcohol levels please. If anyone is _not_ hiding his real self, it is Alan, as is Faux for that matter. You're the inversigator, so kindly investigate first. I find that politeness doesn't ever enter the story whenever you're concerned. You're taking good care of that. If not for amusement value, I'd be trying to find out what it is _you_ are hiding from us, but time and time again, I find it very educating to read the threads where you, rm and GP are starring - if only to make clear that people like you exist, and to take no one for granted. > I wasn't rude in my reply or lack of one. Instead of this belligerent tone, you should have the intelligence to properly reply whenever I or others try to start a discussion. You never folowed up to_my_ questions (read back, I don't post /that/ often). > No one has to promise to keep their "From" header or their sig the same > forever-and-a-day, no matter how much 'authority' the a.o.l.s terrorists > think they have. Well then, isn't this typical cloaking behaviour - like those terrorists do, you like to compare us to? > Those of you who want to be bullied by these thugs... well, that's your > business. And start contributing to the Slackware community - in the positive sense! As you so often pointed out, you came here to get free advice on this new Operating System two years ago, have stepped on several people's toes when they tried to help you, and I have not seen anything worthwhile in return. Is this market value? I suspect the only market value you see as a result from your dwellings in a.o.l.s., is the money you make from the articles on Open Source that you write with the unwilling help from all those who answered your questions before the real Al surfaced. > It's your choice, but I suggest you 'give it up', put me in your kill file > and get on with your life. But hey. If you want to take a shot, I'm right > here in the open... unlike some of the little cowards on this group. Define coward? The Usenet was here long before you entered the scene... those whom you accuse of cowardice are the ones who understand the true nature of Usenet better than the likes of you. A.o.l.s. is not the place to get help for free. It is the place where people like you meet people like me, because in all honesty, I wouldn't be caught dead near you, so Usenet suits me just fine, thank you. It's give and take in this place. I get amusement value in return, but those who are really annoyed by your continuous ranting, do not even get that. Wow, that was amusing. Wise up, sucker. And like fictional characters, guys like you who hide in the darkness are also fiction. I am fact. I am real, worts and all. The only thing that is real about you is your assumed name... No _One. Are they 'paying' for the services of those who reply? And are you talking about free as in beer or free as in speech? Bottom line, Usenet IS a place where people come for free help. Deny it if you want, but I don't think you would get more than a handful of people who use Usenet each day to agree with you. > It is the place where people like you meet people like > me, because in all honesty, I wouldn't be caught dead near you, so > Usenet suits me just fine, thank you. At the end of World War Il, General Patton, a Russian General, and their staffs sat down to dinner. The Russian proposed a toast. Patton replied that he wouldn't drink with a son of a bitch. The Russian replied that Patton was a son of a bitch, too. "In that case, I'll drink,'" Patton said, "from one son of a bitch to another." http://www-tech.mit.edu/archives/VOL...S0068_P001.pdf Al C. |

You've missed the point again, Usenet is where people come for help on one subject and find they can help someone else on another. It's a co-operative medium where if all you do is take, you quickly find yourself with nothing left available to take. As Terry Pratchett says of Igors, what goes around comes around. -- Billy |
