| In a Slack current I'm not more able to swich from a KDE X session and another one. If I try to go back to the first session with ^+Alt+F7, the system freezes and I must reboot my pc with the reset button, Anyone else met this problem? Thanx MS |

| I've had it a couple times but I don't run slack current that often. But I can remember at least 4 different instances that I had your issue. It happened to me at least once, IIRC it was an ati fglrx driver + new kernel issue. If it's fgrlx you can try radeon driver instead and see if it hangs again. Or maybe you can trace the problem loggin in through ssh, even if i think you'll just find X using 100% of the cpu. Gufo -- ,___, | alt.sex.disney (9v9) | Mickey, Minney --- you know. | don't I tend to not run X that much because of my specific software needs. that I just hate gui's as a rule. so sorry no solution. But it happens when I switch from X to another console. And, apparently, it started when I upgraded to x11-6.8.2. In a couple of cases I had realplayer running and the last few seconds were endless played. The machine was not responding to heyboard nor to network. I haven't changed any configurations or drivers other than the upgrades that have made it into -current. I use no third-party X drivers, just the native xorg ati driver and radeon kernel module. Interestingly, my default X session now appears to run F8 instead of F7, and F7 is blank. Not sure why, but console switching works again, so I'm not complaining. Jeffrey |
