Default Help with man stty

I am trying to enable/disable h/w handshaking, so went to
'man stty' and found it lists a few commands that start with
an asterisk:

for example for handshaking it lists
* [-]crtsscts

and for number of terminal rows
* rows N

the significance of the * escapes me?

Thanks

from stty(1) ("man 1 stty")

"Optional - before SETTING indicates negation. An * marks

non-POSIX settings. The underlying system defines which
