Hi All,

Using a brand new slackware 10.2 and 2.6.13 kernel with an Epson cx3200
multifunction printer i have found that, in order to scan with xsane i
have to remove the usblp module before.

Without this operation i have the following message in syslog :

Sep 23 00:26:09 ludwig kernel: usb 1-2: usbfs: interface 1 claimed by
usblp while 'scanimage' sets config #1

and scanimage -L do not detect the scanner (sane-find-scanner is ok and
detect the scanner). After removing usblp module all is ok with the scanner.

I have not observed the problem in Slack 10.1.

I have found at

that the problem could be in sanei_usb.c and therefore i must recompile
sane.

Is that correct ?

So it seems, but you will not know for sure until you tried to change the
code according to the vauge instruction and recompile sane. That message
was not very old. If you are lucky the sane developers might be aware of
the problem and have this fixed in a newer version of sane.
