FAQ Mod Quotes -- (updated: Boomtime, the 42nd day of Chaos in the YOLD 3171)

Every so often you will see a post letting people know that an
updated Best of alt.os.linux.slackware Fortune Mod is available
for download. The url is:
<URL:http://fauxascii.com/linux/mod_quotes.html>

This fortune mod is a collection of quotes either seen on AOLS
or by AOLS regulars that were deemed so wise, funny, inflammatory
or any combination of those that they were submitted for inclusion.

Please take the time to follow the guidelines below and see to it
that there will be a next release, as others have done to make
the past releases possible.

FAQ's:

1) Q: Why is the date on the FAQ wrong? Today is $(ddate).
A: Note the word 'updated' before the date, it was updated
that day, not posted.

2) Q: When does the next mod quote come out?
A: The fortune mod comes out when I feel like it, but if
you feel that its been a while then you can nag me.

Prerequisites:

1) The quote is either from a post in AOLS, an AOLS regular or
about AOLS and/or one of its regulars. If not from AOLS the
group must be mentioned.

1) Quotes must be attributed.

2) Quotes must be trimmed.

Reasons for sending them in:

1) I have both a job and a life which means I don't always
have time to read everything.

2) I'm not a native english speaker, so I might not grok
all word plays or subtle attempts at humor.

3) I might have a different sense of humor; I might not
have it thought funny.

Methods of sending them in:

A) Via email
1) The Subject line should match the following regex:
"^Subject:.*mod\ quote$". Thus "here is a mod quote"
will work just fine for a subject while "mod quote
nomination" will not, so if you want to send an email that
is not a submission you had better make sure that it
doesn't match that. If you don't know what a regex is then
you will probably become the victim of one of these
quotes.

Hint: 'man 7 regex'.

2) The address to send them to is faux_pseudo in the realm of
yahoo dot com.

B) Via IM
1) Send an IM to one of the following accounts:
yahoo_nick faux_pseudo
icq_uin 66618055
aim_nick proxyfugozi

C) Via AOLS
1) Reply to the post containing the modquote and enclose it
in <mod quote> </mod quote> tags.

Note: Since I don't always have the time to read all
messages, the other methods are prefered, I might
not see it if done this way.

I just standardized it to match the rest of the site[0]. I noticed
that it was a touch large but didn't feel like reformatting the FAQ for
a better width at the time. Bartosz did the html on the FAQ and I
haven't changed it other than to change the urls and add new modules.

My monitor is still a 15 inch thrift store special that I am afraid to
hit the power button on because I don't know if it will turn on again.

[0] except the beer plants[1] pages which I wanted to look as much like a
el cheapo science in the public interests page as possible.
