You can lock X session using 'xlock'. Is there comparable program for
virtual console? It would be nice if Slackware has it, but I can
compile it if necessary. Any keyword would very appreciated.

no need to detach and logout with screen. you can simply hit C-a C-x to
lock it.

Used to be just 'lock', not sure what has happened, but I do not think
it is a good idea.
