| I decided it was time to replace (as my main work station) the old crufty Pentium 166 machine. this old Gateway 2000 will of course remain the firewall and print server (having problems getting cups to print to the classic lpd system though. Might need to replace lpr with a newer version, I can try compiling lprng from the pasture of Slackware 10.1 Only I couldn't find the source on the CDs last time I looked.. Good news is that my domain name is back online and for those of you with existing shell accounts, EG: Winston Smith, you should be able to login with either ssh or telnet to port 24, (sorry the bbs is not up yet, Thats another mess altogether to deal with. ISP blocks port 25 so if you need to email me just email to mdalene@optonline.net, Don't have a web page either, never had a public one anyway, so their default blocking of port 80 doesn't effect me in the least. Dhis is also removing the .net.dhis.org domain to simplify it to ..dhis.org. Not sure how long pinkrose.net.dhis.org will remain in effect, its a CNAME record to pinkrose.dhis.org if any one is interested. The bbs itself will probally be back online in a few months. Looks like the development of Maximus for Linux has quit. Can't even get an automatic CVS update anymore. (Pity!) Will need to keep Synchronet unless I can get maximus going. -- From the Desk of the Sysop of: Planet Maca's Opus, a Free open BBS system. Not yet back online The New Cnews maintainer B'ichela |
