Default sata hda?




Is a SATA disk still hda? I have a system that works with Windows
2000 and MS-DOS 6.22 but slackware 10.2 fdisk doesn't see it.

/dev/sda, unless your BIOS masquerades the thing as PATA, stuff happens

Check your boot kernel options. IIRC, F1 on boot, and then look for a kernel
for that.

It will be registered as /dev/sda but you have to boot from the sata.i
kernel during installation so that it can be seen. If you boot from
bare.i, you will not be able to see the drive and prep it for installation.
