My 120Mhurts pentiflop ran 95 a lot faster on 64MB.

Checks feet.

Two, no holes.

Seems like I don't know how to use the weapon.

Agreed, though I feel I've been very lucky (and admittedly very
conservative in hardware puchases). I most recently have been
assembling a new music workstation on an HP Proliant with an Athlon64
CPU and 2GB RAM. (Slackware-10.2; don't know if I'm up to trying
Slamd64 for the music workstation, which I consider rather sacred)

The only hardware "glitch" I've run into on this system is with the
graphics controller ("ATI Radeon Express 200"), though X runs fine on it
with the vesa driver (at 1600x1200, which is quite near minimum for
working with audio). I'm still working with it, though to see what I
can improve. (perhaps bit depth, etc.)

I believe he meant "slow as a frozen turd sliding down a horizontal
plane." :-)

I wouldn't argue back ...

Agreed, though the computer my grandparents use with KDE probably pushes
the envelope a little.

We're in agreement here. Even my grandparents' system cannot be claimed
to run KDE "great". I imagine it probably runs KDE "better" than it
would a current version of Windows, but I have to admit that I have no
experience whatsoever with any version of Windows near "current".

Agreed in most cases. My grandparents spend most of their time with a
single web browser window open, or my grandmother will be playing a
game, or chatting in Gaim. The browser is the most intensive of their
computer activities.

Agreed, and in the absence of improving either hardware component,
refraining from compiling kernels from within X/KDE will help both.
:-)

I don't recall ever nominating anything for a modquote, but this one
sure gets my vote! :-)

That should eventually get quite fast, as the friction of sliding will
melt the ice on the bottom of the turd, and it should really pick up steam
for a while. Eventually, though, when the turd itself begins to melt,
things will get ugly.

Such a juicy (not to say steamy) piece of analysis must surely be a
modquote????? :-)

Ah.. but you missed the part about the horizontal plane.
