| My mouse wheel is not working in Slackware 10.2. The strange thing is that the wheel _does_ work as a third button -- when I click my Xfce desktop using the scroll wheel it gives me a menu of Workspaces as it should -- but when I try scrolling the wheel up or down in Firefox, or in Gaim, or in a file manager window, nothing happens. After searching the web I thought I found the solution. I changed the mouse section of my /etc/X11/xorg.conf file like so: Identifier "Mouse1" Driver "mouse" Option "Protocol" "PS/2" Option "Device" "/dev/mouse" # I added the following 2 lines: Option "Buttons" "5" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" After rebooting X11, the scroll wheel still didn't work. I tried rebooting my PC... still didn't work. The above fix seemed to work for most people on the net. What am I doing wrong? I'm using a Genius optical PS/2 mouse. Thanks for any help. :-) - Alex. |
