I'm no amatuer when it comes to "psychological things"!

To change your console font, run pkgtool, then choose setup, scroll down
on the setup list and choose setconsolefont

From the _root_ prompt, type "fbset". That command allows you to
see and set the mode, including your refresh rate. The
"/etc/fb.modes" file is the configuration file for fbset. You will
see in that file various resolutions along with various refresh
rates that are available to "fbset."

We are not currently using a framebuffer so we can't really give you
advice on how to use fbset and fb.modes. But use "man fbset" and
"man fb.modes" and you should be able to figure it out. Or perhaps
someone else, who is more familiar with framebuffers can wade in.
