The Firefox and Thunderbird 1.0.x series are not getting any security updates anymore, and since web browsers and email clients deal with untrusted content pretty much exclusively, there is actually a reason to upgrade them beyond just wanting the latest and greatest. (PV is actually putting in these upgrades as patches for Slackware 10.2.) Other than that, I agree with your sentiment. |
