Proprietary Texas Instruments FlashMedia controller - this is responsible
for talking to your SD card (since I have a similar chip, I assume this is
one of those X-in-1 card readers, not just SD?)

Good and bad news:

Good: You can get this working for SD (and maybe MMC) cards

Bad: Nothing else works with it at the moment

There are two ways of doing this:

1. Experimental tifmxx reverse engineered driver: http://tifmxx.berlios.de

Only recently working, supports SD cards. *But*, it was developed on an
AMD64 platform, so the driver may not work with your 32 bit system.

2. Tweaking to use SDHCI driver (now in mainline kernel)

You're in luck, ref: http://www.webcon.ca/~imorgan/tifm21/

Follow the instructions, and you can get SD cards working.

While we're on the subject of un/quasi-supported SD card
readers, anyone know of any drivers for these?

01:0a.3 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C576 SD Bus Host Adapter (rev 01)
01:0a.4 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C592 Memory Stick Bus Host Adapter

I've googled about with no luck.

I have the same hardware on my L5GA asus laptop.
I recently found something on the SDHCI kernel driver mailing list.

The only way to make it work is to have a "non-cardbus" bridge (i have a
carbus bridge so there is noway for me for now).

Have a look here, follow this tread and check it out with lspci :
