Default changing default editor in kmail

Hi,
I recently switched to kde 3.5 which has kmail 1.8 in it. I want to have
openoffice as my default editor but I can't figure out how to make this
happen. The settings menu apparently doesn't have this as an option.
Any ideas?
Thanks, jwc

kMail: settings - configure kmail - composer - general - external editor

Thanks for the reply, however this change did not have the desired effect.
Clicking on a .doc attachment still calls up kword.

probably you need to change the file associations in KDE itself...

open up kcontrol (control centre) --> kde components --> "file associations"
alternatively from a konsole or "run command" --> kcmshell module filetypes

you'll find the .doc extension under "Applications" --> msword

then add or set your preference accordingly

Ahhh.
The default editor is just to write e-mails.

You want to change KDE's default association/mimetype for doc's.
Konqueror: Settings - Configure Konqueror - Default Associations.

Never!!

What's the point, the battle's won - XEmacs rules :-)

No it isn't - its bloated, slow and ugly - that I can get in the mirror
every morning. XFCE is the business.

More futility - Gnus has chased off the opposition :-)

Its either resignation, sophistication, or most likely sheer frustration
at people posting here simply in order to stir up trouble and dog-fights
.... but that's not you and I is it?

That's what's really weird. Our three most annoying trolls seem to
have all gone on vacation at the same time, leaving us to our own
devices. Consequently, people come into aols and ask questions and
they are promptly answered with thoughtfullness and courtesy. I think
that pretty much lays to rest any myths about aols being a bunch of
ill mannered jerks spoiling for a fight. Not that there was ever any
doubt in *my* mind.

oh a good friendly shouting match never hurts ; It is just all good clean
fun sports, as long as no one gets hurt.
