Since the defacto-way of today to protect a network of comercial software, is to put a Linux/*BSD box between the network and the Internet, your question sounds a bit like: How to protect the firewall with a firewall? -- Software is not manufactured, it is something you write and publish. Keep Europe free from software patents, we do not want censorship by patent law on written works. |

Not something that can easily be described in any detail in a single netnews posting, but look at Sendmail, Mimedefang, Amavis, and ClamAV. If you're convinced you want commercial software in the mix, try Sophos (commercial, runs on Slackware Linux) and Sophie, instead of ClamAV and Amavis. I hope that helps ... -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Sylvain Robitaille syl@alcor.concordia.ca Systems and Network analyst Concordia University Instructional & Information Technology Montreal, Quebec, Canada ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Agreed, just a few points in details : I'd recommend MimeDefang+ClamAV (you don't need Amavis with MimeDefang) And if you want the supported (and commercial) version see CanIt Pro, it is very good, the support is fair and quick and the fares are really incredibly sensible and well scaled for different needs. > If you're convinced you want commercial software in the mix, try Sophos > (commercial, runs on Slackware Linux) and Sophie, instead of ClamAV and > Amavis. Agreed, though if the question implies a full solid integrated solution regardless of the cost (very regardless ;-) I'd recommend PureMessage (Sophos) but I feel dizzy to post this on Usenet in an open source related group ;-) The only technical problems of these two solutions are that MimeDefang requires Perl and PureMessage requires Java. |
