We read the message. The essence of the message was that he tried several attempts to install and it failed without any indication as to why it failed. And that criticism is valid. Furthermore, he complained that the stock install was a 2.4 kernel. And that is a valid complaint as well. People who have lots of time to fuck around because they don't have anything to do, love slackware. And some people love building ships in bottles, as well. But if you wanted a real ship you wouldn't handicap yourself by building it in a bottle because it would take too long and too much effort to build. And this is the same story if you wish to install slackware. If you have done it a few times, it is relatively easy unless you have some new piece of hardware. But if you just want to get a linux server up and running, then slackware is probably the very last choice one would make. In fact, if an IP professional needed to get a server up and running as fast as possible and he chose slackware, then he should be fired. cordially, as always, rm |

Usually osnews degenerates too much into the usual Win vs Lin flame wars and name calling and pettiness that I'ld almost stopped checking it. There is still hope. -- Kind Regards, B. Hoffmann |
