delayed audio under KDE (Slackware 11.0)

Hello all,

It might be not related strongly to Slackware 11.0, maybe only to KDE:
I don't like too much the different signalling sounds (eg. when someone
comes online in Kopete), but sometimes it is useful; however all these
sounds suffer from a large (~ 2 seconds) delay. But only the sounds that
come from KDE. The sounds from Skype or Amarok are not delayed at all.

Do you have any idea what can cause this? It's pretty annoying
